Vessel and Facility Security Policy

Purpose. This policy sets the security requirements for company vessels and for staff working within port security zones under the maritime transport security framework.

1.Purpose

The mooring gang, line boat and tug work inside security-regulated port areas and alongside security-regulated ships. This policy ensures that staff understand and follow the port's security requirements and protect company vessels from unauthorised access.

2.Identification and access

Every person entering a port security zone must hold a valid maritime security identification card or be escorted in accordance with the port's rules. Cards must be displayed and must not be lent to another person. Vehicles entering the port must be registered with the port authority.

3.Vessel security

Vessels must be secured when unattended and gangways controlled when alongside a regulated ship. Crew must challenge unknown persons approaching the vessel and report suspicious activity, unattended items or unauthorised access to the master and the Safety and Compliance Manager.

4.Security levels

When the port raises its security level, the Safety and Compliance Manager will brief all crews on the additional measures. Crews must comply with additional screening, escorts and restrictions on access.

5.Training

All crew must complete security awareness training on induction and every five years. Staff working in port security zones must complete the port's induction.

6.Reporting

Security incidents must be recorded in the incident register and reported to the port security officer without delay.
