Osprey restricted to single engine harbour work
Bluewater Osprey has a critical defect on the port main engine and is restricted to single engine work within the harbour until engineering clears the repair. Masters must not accept jobs requiring full power or near coastal passages. Check the Fleet and Vessel Register before every job.

Heaving line near miss: stand back until the line is down
A heaving line monkey's fist struck a gang member's helmet at berth 2 on Saturday night. From now on the gang stands clear of the drop zone until the heaving line is on the wharf, and gang leaders will remind ships through the agent that weighted monkey's fists are not accepted. Wear your helmet on every job.

Internal safety management system audit
The six-monthly internal audit of the safety management system runs from 12 to 16 October across the fleet, marina and Eden boatyard. Masters must have deck logs, drill records and pre-departure checklists complete and available. Engineering will present the planned maintenance records. Findings will be reported to the General Manager's management review in November.

Medicals and certificates expiring before December
Four crew have medicals or certificates expiring within 60 days. Crew members are responsible for booking their medical in time; the company pays for the appointment. A crew member with an expired medical cannot be rostered to a vessel. Check your own record in the Crew Roster and Certification Matrix and see Jules if a date is wrong.

Harbour open day and Tern public cruises
Bluewater Tern will run free public harbour cruises during the port's open day on Sunday 25 October. Volunteers are needed for passenger marshalling at the wharf and for the marina display. All volunteers must complete the passenger vessel crowd safety briefing on the Friday before. Lifejacket briefings will be given on every cruise.
