Vessel Certificates and Survey Register
v1.8
Purpose. This register lists every certificate, survey and inspection that each vessel must hold to operate lawfully, with the due dates and the person responsible for renewal.
1.What the register holds
For each vessel the register records the certificate of survey, the certificate of operation, the periodic survey dates, the liferaft and inflatable lifejacket service dates, the fire equipment service dates, the EPIRB registration and battery date, the radio licence and the compass adjustment date.
2.Responsibilities
The Safety and Compliance Manager owns the register. The Fleet Engineering Manager is responsible for presenting the vessel for survey and for equipment servicing. Masters must check the register before accepting a job and must not sail a vessel with an expired certificate.
3.Due date management
The register must be reviewed monthly. Items due within 90 days must be scheduled in the planned maintenance system and items due within 30 days reported to the General Manager.
4.Survey preparation
Before a periodic survey the engineering team must complete the pre-survey checklist, open up the items the surveyor has requested and have the maintenance records available.
5.Conditions and defects
Any condition placed on a certificate by the surveyor must be recorded in the register with the action required and the deadline, and tracked to closure.
